Traffic Congestion in cities of Sri Lanka
Traffic Congestion
in cities of Sri Lanka
Think
of an evening at Colombo, when you are inside a bus hoping to reach your home
town. The bus is crawling pace to pace inside a stream of vehicle who repeating
the same pace without a change, how do you feel? Once when I was in a hurry, I
was troubled with same happening and I had to spend total one and half hours to
reach to the university. All of these because of the “Traffic Congestion” in
cities. Mostly during the weekdays in three periods of time, we have to
experience the traffic in main cities. Firstly at the morning from 6am to 8am
during the school and office starting hours, it’s hard to get into a bus or to
move a vehicle. It was the most crowded time of cities. Next, at the end of the
schools, from 1.30pm to 3pm afternoon. Finally, at the evening from 4.30 to
7.30 at the evening, you can experience huge traffic congestion continuously in
every city. This huge problem not only for us, but for the whole world. Still
no one can found a suitable solution for the road traffics
.
Traffics
snitch not only our precious time, but there are many more. Actually, because
of traffics, there’s a huge loss of time of working people. Sometimes it causes
to minimize the human contacts and interactions. During traffic, people have to
lose their time and also they have to burn more extra fuel to move ahead. That
is the causes the degradation of national income of the country. Sometimes
traffic causes so many accidents and people are not secure during the journey
to their houses. Not only had that, mostly women including child to adult, had
to face a lot of problems in buses and other public transport methods. They are
insecure and it’s a problem which contains no solutions. Nowadays, traffic has
opened a door to thieves who are acute in steeling the passengers’ money,
mobiles and other valuable things. So, we can identify traffic as a social
problem.
On
the other hand, traffic creates most of the environmental pollution in cities. Simply,
the vehicle emissions pollutes the city air. Due to the time taken to move
ahead, the vehicles emits a huge sound from their engines and wheels. This
cause noise pollution and also creates a vibration up to an exceeding decibel of
the normal level. The day time sunlight also effects on people badly because
cities consist of less trees.Indirectly, the traffic pollutes the water bodies
during rainy seasons by the washouts on the roads. Because of the traffic, the
collection of dust, oil patches, litter and other dirt makes the outlook of the
towns unpleasant. Based on the above pollution, finally people have to suffer
from so many defects, not only for the inhabitants, but for the visitors and
nearby dwellers. Any how this is another reason for the degradation of national
income.
Finally
we can conclude that, the traffic is not only creates problem in transportation
sector, but also in social, environmental and economic sections. If we are
without actions, we will unable to develop our countries. It’s in our hands to
settle the situation before it corrupt the whole country. So, start on thinking
from today in order to plan the city and to reduce traffic.

HOW CAN MAKE CITIES"LIVABLE CITIES"
Cities are
very important for people. Not only How make a cities are very essential thing
for peoples.Such as peoples live in cities.
So ,When we plan a cities we should careful every sides. Not only
physical side .There are good natural environment and social environment in a
good cities.there are every side in cities ,it is good characteristics of a
good cities.
A city that is environmentally
friendly ranks high on the list of best place to live not only because, it is a
pretty city but pollution can cause health problams, children Who grow up in
smogy cities often suffer from usthama as well incidences of cancer and
respiratory problams are often higher in those cities.Greener cities are
healthiercities and helth is a major factors when considering what is the best
of live in.
For the green area I sugeest ausual garde around the town with lakes.A place for kids to play, adults to gather around and
have a chit chat.We should creat city without changing the natural environment
.
Every city
planners are faces different challenges so when it comes to “defining a
sustainable city” there will be no one size fits all. There of course underline principles
that support good, sastainable urbanism.Firstly, good city governance, powerful
city learders.Who know their resion and can respond qickly as a rise.
On the other
hand there is no sutable condition for people in towns Which are created on
politican’s opinions.
Have
you ever seen the city of the” best place to live in the world” and wondered
why your city can not on that list ?.It can with little effort on part of the
peole Who live in thire starting with
yourself.Good cities are often given to cities Where the quality of life is
considered high.Making your city a better place to live. Also heps improve your
quality of city.

slums is bad
It is good to replace all the slums in urban areas in Sri Lanka. As my aspect need a beautiful city for the migrants. Otherwiae they feel the city like a bad place to stay.
Do you agree with me?
As the "avengers" we will maintain the theory based on gorden cullen's perspective and local examples.
Shall we talk about that ###

The Concise Townscape
Townscape is the art of giving visual coherence and organization to the jumble of buildings, streets and spaces that make up the environment. Concepts were first developed by Gordon Cullen in The Architectural Review and were later embodied in the book TOWNSCAPE (1961) which instantly established itself as a major influence on architects, planners and others concerned with what cities should look like. Its interest, however, goes far beyond the professional sphere. Some may see it as an important contribution to art and architectural history since, for the first time, it explores the fact that certain visual effect in the grouping of buildings were based on quite definable, if often spontaneous, aesthetic principles. Others may find that it teaches them to appreciate, as no other book has done, what it is that makes a town “work” architecturally. A third group wants to study it for Cullen’s superb drawings of city scenery-a skill at which he is the acknowledged master. The fascination of this book is endless for anyone who has any kind of visual sense. In this shortened version the studies of specific towns have been left out and instead Cullen has contributed a new foreword and conclusion which set his ideas in the context of the seventies.
